Pharmacology and dermatopharmacology of mouse ear inflammation

This outstandingly well-compiled work consists fundamentally of three parts. The first section presents a detailed account of models of mouse ear oedema, and illustrates the use and applicability of these methods. In the second part of the monograph, the author surveys anti-inflammatory materials of plant origin. The third section of the book presents the models of mouse ear oedema that are utilised in dermatology. An account is provided of atopic dermatitis induced experimentally by different procedures in mice, and how it can be influenced in practice. This is followed by a survey of the models of mouse ear oedema relating to irritative dermatitis. Finally, the models of allergic contact dermatitis in mice are reviewed, with special emphasis on induction with picryl chloride, dinitrobenzene, toluene diisocyanate and oxazolone and investigations with various substances that may act on dermal inflammation. This excellently written monograph, with its detailed references, will be certainly of great interest and value for all pharmacologists, dermatologists and researchers into medicinal plants and industrial pharmaceuticals who are interested in inflammation and anti-inflammatory agents.
